Finally, the tutorial for Gulliver: [link]

This really took me forever.

Don't hesitate to ask if anything is unclear. I really gave my best but English is not my first language. Any suggestions for improvement are welcome.

Hello, I read your tutorial for the Gulliver Plush and I have a question. Should I print the patterns on A4 or A3 Paper ? Sorry my english isn't the best. ^^

A4 should be big enough for a "normal" sized Gulliver. For comparison: [link]
That's me with my Gulliver and I'm 167cm tall.

Cute Anemone cosplay by the way! :)

Thanks for the quick answer and thanks for the compliment. Your anemone cosplay is very cute too. :)
I hope I will finish my Gulliver plush for the Animagic this summer. ^^

That's cool! Do you plan to visit other German conventions?

It's the first time where I visit an Anime Convention, it's in Bonn and I'm from Luxembourg, so it isn't too far away :)
Anemone is my first cosplay ^^ Are you from Germany ? ^^ :)

Yup, I am and I visit some German conventions - not Animagic, however. I'll attend Connichi in Kassel and maybe the Frankfurt Book Fair.
Well then, have fun at your first convention! And that's a really good cosplay for being your first!

Thanks for the compliment, I hope the weather will be good that 2 days on Animagic ^^ Oh you speak German ? Because I have a question of the materials of gulliver, I don't find the exact translation of fleece and felt ?
I found fleece is Velour and felt is Filz, is this correct ? :)

Hello, I'm following your gulliver tutorial a bit for making my own plush. For the cut out pieces, is it wise to leave a grace area? like make our cuts of fabric a bit larger the paper?

:iconmarlingrey:
MarlinGrey Featured By Owner Apr 24, 2012
Yup, that's what I meant when I said "seam allowance" (if I put that in the tutorial at all :XD:). Some patterns include a certain amount of seam allowance but I usually don't make my patterns like that, because beginners might feel comfortable with more, pros with less, then you have to decide on metric or imperial etc.
So with my pattern you will draw the pieces on the fabric and cut them out leaving about 1 to 2 cm room.

thank you very much :)

I'm also making my Anemone dress too. Going crazy looking for some sort of tubing material to make the hoop circle at the bottom. This cosplay will be the death of me. X.X

Thank you so much for the help.

For the tubing you could get a hula hoop or check out the garden hoses in a DIY store :)

I'm afraid a hola hoop would be too thin? Unless I put in some stuffing. A friend of mine suggested using a tube float used for kids swimming? T.T

That's a good idea, too. Or you could always go with a hoop or hose plus stuffing combination.

Ah, that makes sense. But those disproportionately small feets are totally guinea pig-esque! I so want to make one of these, I might try doing a mini version.

Oh man, I've been looking for a Gulliver pattern for a while now, I'm so glad I found one! 8'D

I have a question, though, how can I make him fatter?
Reply
:iconmarlingrey:
MarlinGrey Featured By Owner Jul 14, 2009
I'm glad you like it.

You can try making him fatter by making the pattern bigger like this: [link] i.e. draw parallel lines where you can see them in this picture. Don't change the size where the head goes. I think this will work.
If you use a somewhat stretchy fabric you can just stuff him more :)
